Yesterday was a bad day at our house.  Our son is very much into electronics, playing the Nintendo Ds, Ipod, Wii, and just watching cartoons.  He even can navigate his way around the computer, and get on YouTube, and various other websites.

When he asks to play with the Ipod, it usually isnt a huge deal, because he plays it with out problems, until yesterday...

I was talking with my husband about adult issues, and our son comes up to me and says "Im sorry I broke your Ipod mommy"  I look at it and the screen is shattered, he takes off running down the hall screaming and goes to his room. My husband and I go to his room to find out how this got broken.  He tells me that he was hungry and he thought this was food.   WHAT?!?!?!

By the point I am so frustrated, that I tell him he needs to stay in his room until further notice.  I had to clear my head.  I was so angry, and yet highly confused.  When I calmed down, I told him that he needed to follow me to the playroom.  I decided that as his punishment, I was going to take his toys away.  I got several trash bags and he had to help me put his toys in the bags.  He thought I was throwing them away, but I was just putting them up.  He also is not allowed to watch tv, play with the DS or the Wii, until further notice.

Today, he is mad at me.  He has been telling me that I am the worse mother he has ever had.  I really try not to let this bother me, because I  know he is just angry, but I cant help but have my feelings hurt.  Noone ever said parenthood was easy, and those who have said that must live in a different world!  I know that I need to stick to my guns and not give into him.  This is the first time he has been punished to this effect.  He is not a bad child, he just gets bored, and wants attention 24/7!

Hopefully, we get over this hurdle, and he will start learning that for every bad behavior, there will be a consequence.
